Backyard putting green cost per square foot.
A DIY kit runs roughly $8–$14 per square foot in materials once hardware and infill are counted. A pro-installed green runs $25–$60+ per square foot. Here are four common sizes, both ways.
| Green size | Putting sf | Ridge Kit materials | Crate weight | Freight band | Pro-installed market |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10′ × 20′ | 200 | $1,764–$2,328 | 693 lb | C | $5,000–$12,000 |
| 14′ × 20′ | 280 | $2,232–$2,879 | 899 lb | C | $7,000–$16,800 |
| 16′ × 25′ | 400 | $2,954–$3,737 | 1213 lb | D | $10,000–$24,000 |
| 20′ × 30′ | 600 | $4,104–$5,084 | 1719 lb | D | $15,000–$36,000 |
Materials only. Add base aggregate (local, roughly $1–$2/sf) and rental (~$150–$250 for the weekend).
Why is installed pricing so much higher?
Labor is typically $4–$8 per square foot, and network overhead, scheduling, and warranty administration ride on top.
What is the cheapest honest green?
Roughly 10×20 with a small collar and one cup on a flat pad you prepare yourself. Below that you are building a chipping target, not a green.
Do you finance or invoice contractors?
Materials-only invoicing is available for small landscapers. Ask for the wholesale one-pager.
Is freight included?
No — it is quoted by zip and pallet count. Your cut list comes back with a firm number, not a guess.
